Texas Senator Ted Cruz along with several lawmakers of the Grand Old Party came out in support of US President Donald Trump, claiming that Ukraine interfered in the United States presidential election 2016. In an interview to NBC, Ted Cruz reiterated the Ukrainian government, Russian authorities, and several other foreign actors interfered in the 2016 election that elected Donald Trump to the White Office. He said Donald Trump has been helpful to Ukraine and tougher on Russia compared to former US President Barack Obama.
However, there was no evidence to support his claim of Ukraine’s interference. Last week, a Senate Committee, after an investigation, said they found no evidence of Ukraine’s interference or support to Hillary Clinton in the last election.
On the other side, some top White House officials, including Mike Pompeo and others Republican leaders, have been narrating the story of Ukraine’s meddling, but did not agree on Russia’s interference with its help in hacking emails of the Democratic National Committee in 2016.
Replying to a question, Cruz said he believes Ukraine meddled in 2016 elections and there is considerable evidence. He slammed the media for continuously asking if Ukraine, and not Russia, interfered in the last elections. Cruz termed such statements baseless and questions misleading, adding Russia interfered in the last US election and nobody is looking at the evidence disputes.
He said Trump has been harsh on Russia and supportive of Ukraine, but the US media ignores it, claimed the Texas Senator.
Cruz made it clear that President Trump’s policies have been tougher on Russia, and actually good for Ukraine than Obama had been.
