United States President Donald Trump has congratulated Tito Ortiz after the UFC star defeated ex-WWE champ Alberto El Patron Rodriguez. Trump took Twitter to extend greetings, calling Ortiz a great American patriot who registered a huge win. The match between both the fighters lasted for only 3 minutes and 10 seconds as Ortiz chocked Rodriguez in the first round, not allowing him to breathe. Not just the UFC Champion’s title, Rodriguez also lost his WWE Champion’s belt to Ortiz in a side bet. Both the fighters had also engaged in an online fight over politics ahead of their clash as Ortiz supports Trump and wears a MAGA hat with a Trump flag over his shoulder.
Reports said that the fight between both deadliest fighters happened near the US Mexico border in Hidalgo, Texas. Earlier, Rodriguez had criticized Ortiz for donning a hat with Border Patrol. He asked Ortiz that Border Patrol hats were designed to pay respect to soldiers who have been defending the borders, why Ortiz was donning it when he knew that he had to compete against a Mexican player.
Later, in an interview with Fox Business, Ortiz clarified saying that he often wears travels with a MAGA hat or a Latinos for Trump hat and gets high fives from people.
Ortiz is an American mixed martial artist and one of the most popular Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) stars. He also runs MMA equipment and clothing line called Punishment Athletics. Ortiz owns an MMA training gym called Punishment Training Center, which is located in his hometown of Huntington Beach, California. He was the 9th fighter to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on July 7, 2012.
